Gold Coast Airport 2024 Master Plan

Public consultation for the 2024 Gold Coast Airport Preliminary Draft Master Plan (PDMP) has now closed.

We extend our thanks to all community members, stakeholders, and organisations who provided valuable feedback and insights on the PDMP during the public consultation period. The Draft Master Plan is subject to the approval of the Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.

The Airport’s importance to the region 

GCA plays an integral role in supporting the local economy, connecting families, industry and communities, and facilitating better health, job, and social outcomes for the region.

The estimated economic impact of GCA to the region is $514 million in Gross Value Add (GVA). The tourism GVA contribution facilitated by travel through the airport is $1.14 billion and overnight visitation is worth an additional $1.04 billion to the local economy.

 

About the Master Plan

Gold Coast Airport Pty Ltd is required, under the Airports Act 1996 (Cth), to prepare a 20-year Master Plan to guide the development of existing and proposed airport land uses and facilities.

The public consultation period for the Preliminary Draft Master Plan 2024 ran from Monday 18 March until Friday 14 June 2024 and is now closed.

Gold Coast Airport 2017 Master Plan

The Federal Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, the Hon. Darren Chester MP, granted approval for the 2017 Master Plan 15 July 2017 following extensive consultation with the community and other key stakeholders.

The 2017 Master Plan has been prepared to support the continued growth of Gold Coast Airport as an economic and aviation gateway to the region. The document will ensure that Gold Coast Airport can meet the changing demand for aviation and airport related services over the next five years and plan strategically for the next 20 years.

The Master Plan is a strategic document that is used as a guide for the development of airport facilities, assessment of environment effects, development of land use controls, and establishment of airport access requirements to meet the future requirements of the aviation industry and the community in which we operate. Hard copies of the 2017 Gold Coast Airport Master Plan are available for public viewing and purchase from the Gold Coast Airport Management Centre, Level 1 Airport Central Building, 1 Eastern Avenue Bilinga between 9.00am and 5.00pm Monday to Friday.
